Like so many people, we’re working from home these days. It’s been an adjustment, but it’s given us the opportunity to overhaul our website! We hope you’ll come take a look, and also let us know how you like it.
One feature to make special note of is that the Co-ops 101 workshop that we used to give in person at Madison Libraries has now become a YouTube video right on our homepage. This means you can watch it at any time, as many times as you like, and share it with friends and colleagues. In this 42-minute video, Charity provides some basic education on cooperative businesses, highlighting the worker co-op model. She also discusses the resources that MCDC and its partners can provide to people who want to start worker co-ops, and community based organizations that want to support them. Connect to the video here.
We would also like to announce our Community Based Organization Grant awards for 2020! An outside review panel has awarded $30,000 grants to two local organizations to help build worker co-ops and strengthen the cooperative ecosystem in Madison. They are Worker Justice Wisconsin and the Mutual Aid Workspace. If you know any groups that would like to apply in 2021, please share our newsletter with them so they can sign up to receive updates.
Be safe out there!
